Young, Famous & African Season 3 Review

Young, Famous & African Season 3

If you enjoyed the first and second seasons of Young, Famous & African, then you have probably seen or are planning to watch Season 3.

Season 3 is currently streaming on Netflix. This season has eight episodes, with an average runtime of about 50 minutes.

The cast returned with even more drama, fabulous fashion, pettiness, and some new and very interesting cast members.

In a way a lot has changed since Season 2 premiered in May of 2023, but I’m afraid some things remain the same.

Below are the cast of this season of Young, Famous & African.

Annie Macaulay-Idibia - Young, Famous & African

Annie Macaulay-Idibia

Annie returns in Season 3. Anne is an original cast member of the show and is no stranger to dealing with drama.

This season, Annie claims she is ready to mend her friendships especially the conflict she had with Zari Hassan.

At the start of Season 3, she admits that she was surprised to be invited to Zari’s wedding especially as Anne did not grace Zari with an invitation to her wedding vows renewal in Season 2.

The drama for, some might argue by, Anne begins pretty early this season and carries on throughout the season.

Zari Hassan and Shakib Lutaaya - Young, Famous & African

Zari Hassan

Zari Hassan or Zari the Boss Lady, as she is popularly known, gets married this season. Zari is also one of the original cast members of Young, Famous & African.

We get to watch the events leading up to her wedding and how she manages the relationship with her new husband, the father of her children, and her very vocal friends.

Nadia Nakai - Young, Famous & African

Nadia Nakai

Nadia Nakai is an original Young, African & Famous cast member.

This season, she and Annie go at each other pretty much the entire season.

Nadia claims the rest of the group of friends keep making excuses for Annie’s bad behavior and she is over it. She reminds Annie that she is not her friend.

Swanky Jerry

Swanky Jerry

No surprise in terms of his fashion, Swanky Jerry is back for Season 3, looking very stylish and very zen and I love that for him.

Sadly, the friendship between him and Annie continued to struggle throughout the season.

Swanky introduces us to two new cast members who add some spice to the group.

Kefilwe Mabote - Season 3 of Young, Famous & African

Kefilwe Mabote

Kefilwe joins the cast of Young, Famous & African.

She is a fashion and lifestyle social media influencer.

I absolutely enjoyed her fashion on the show. She is also very confident and a secure woman, which I appreciated.

There was only one scene involving her and Zari, where her behavior was questionable and rather disappointing but other than that scene, I think she carried herself well.

Fantana - Young, Famous & African

Fantana

Fantana returns this season and is still involved with Diamond, who is the father of Zari’s children.

Last season, Diamond and Fantana started “seeing each other.” The complexity of their relationship is front and center this season.

I really like the relationship Fantana has with Swanky Jerry. It’s like a big brother, little sister vibe with Swanky often threatening to call Ghana and report Fantana to her mom.

Quinton Masina (Naked DJ) and Kayleigh Schwark

Quinton Masina and his girlfriend Kayleigh Schwark both return to Season 3 of Young, Famous & African.

The two are now living together.

As usual, their relationship drama centers around how long it would take for Naked to propose and how long they have dated.

Kayleigh at some point begins the process of looking for her own place.

Ini Edo - Young, Famous & African

Ini Edo

Nigerian actress, Ini Edo, joined this season of Young, Famous & African. She makes it pretty clear from the onset that she is not here for drama. According to her “no one is going to stain her white.

She brought fashion and great energy to the group. I also like how she resolved even very triggering issues once an apology was issued.

I just don’t know if this group of friends are the right mix for her. There seems to always be chaos or drama here and she comes off as someone who is not seeking that in her life. Notwithstanding, I enjoyed watching her.

Shakib Lutaaya - Young, Famous & African

Shakib Cham Lutaaya

Shakib Cham Lutaaya joins the cast as a new member. At the start of the season, he is engaged to Zari.

He is a businessman and part-time amateur boxer. Shakib struggles with the relationship between Zari and Diamond.

At the start of Season 3, there’s a lot of focus on how young he is but personally, I think he came off as one of the most mature people on the show.

Luis Munana - Young, Famous & African

Luis Munana

Luis is back for his second season.

I like Luis, he seems like a genuinely good guy but he always seems to get himself in hot water.

Once again, his drama with surrogacy continues. In one scene that had me cracking up, Kefilwe says to Ini Edo, “is it the eggs?” I couldn’t stop laughing after that.

Diamond Platnumz - Young, Famous & African

Diamond Platnumz

Diamond Platnumz returns for the third season.

A lot of his story centers around how Zari’s husband, Shakib, feels disrespected by Diamond’s actions when he is around Zari. His storyline also focuses on his relationship or lack thereof with Fantana.

Interestingly, I don’t think Diamond likes drama. He is what he is and it’s left for people who are dealing with him to decide if they want to deal with what he offers.

Khanyi Mbau - Young, Famous & Africa

Khanyi Mbau

Khanyi returned this season as a rock and shoulder to lean on for her friends Nadia and Naked.

I love how she describes herself as a power ranger, who shows up when she is needed even though she is going through her own struggles.

There is a scene where she and Naked are having a very personal conversation and she acted the way we would all hope our friends act in our time of need or advice.
