Recently listened to Luke Bryan’s new album, “Mind of a Country Boy”. The album contains 14 songs centered around love, family and country life.
Some of my favorite songs on the album are “Love You, Miss You, Mean it“, “But I Got a Beer in my Hand“, “Country Song Came on” and “Kansas“.
Love You, Miss You, Mean It – I love the lyrics to this song. The story is about developing a romantic relationship, being separated from each other for a time being, drifting apart, and later reconnecting.
Country Song Came On – This a very witty song. The beat and the intro are amazing. I am of the opinion that the way a song starts sometimes makes it or breaks it for me. If it falls flat at the start it is often hard to recover. This song is about how he had no intention of going to the bar but he sees a spot that calls to him and he ends up having a drink.
But I Got a Beer in My Hand – I don’t even like beer but I definitely enjoyed listening to this song. I have probably played this song the most, second only to Love You, Miss You, Mean It. It’s has very catchy lyrics.
But I got a beer in my hand (hand), and I got it raised up high (high)
I ain't got a give in my damn right, I can do this all night
Kansas – This one is such a beautiful love song. It’s about a man promising to give the world to a woman he loves.
If it's red dirt, I'll give you Georgia
Every mile of every backroad
If it's a shoreline, I'll give you California
Every wave crashing on that Gold Coast
If it's a mountain, girl, I'll give you Colorado
I'll do anything for ya', baby, God knows
I don't know what love is, don't understand it
But if it's a wheat field, I'll give you Kansas
For the Kids was another powerful song on the album. Luke wrote the song with Justin Ebach and Brad Tursi. It talks about how a married couple slowing allows life circumstances push them apart and how they stay together even though they are no longer into each other.
