The Ritual is a 2025 American horror film directed by David Midell and co-written with Enrico Natale. Based on true events, the film follows two priests, Father Theophilus Riesinger and Father Joseph Steiger, as they confront their personal demons to perform a series of exorcisms on a young woman, Emma Schmidt, believed to be possessed. The story is inspired by the 1928 exorcism case of Anna Ecklund, one of the most documented exorcisms in American history.
