Souleymane’s Story premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize and the Best Performance award for Abou Sangaré. The film also received the FIPRESCI Prize. At the 2025 César Awards, it also received eight nominations and won four, including Best Supporting Actress (Nina Meurisse), Best Male Revelation (Abou Sangaré), Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing.
