Kylie Minogue has just released her highly anticipated album Tension II, a follow-up to her successful 2023 album Tension.

Tension II builds on the success of Kylie’s viral hit Padam Padam from the original Tension album. The new album continues the exploration of upbeat, electro-pop, and disco sounds.

Kylie Minogue Tension II Review:

What Tracks are on the Album?

The new album Tension II delivers 13 songs packed with vibrant, dancefloor-ready tracks. Collaborators on the album include artists like Bebe Rexha, Tove Lo, Sia, Orville Peck, and The Blessed Madonna.

Lights Camera Action

The opening song on the Tension II Album is Lights Camera Action. This track kicks off the album with a high-energy vibe. The beats for the song are bold, capturing the excitement of being in the spotlight and getting ready for action.

Taboo

Next up is Taboo. The song explores the desire for someone who’s off-limits, blending disco elements with string arrangements. The lyrics are fun and flirtatious, featuring the playful French phrase un, deux, trois.

It's electric energy when you get this close to me
Count me in, let's go, let's leavе, un, deux, trois
Taboo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Taboo, doo-doo, doo-doo

Someone for Me

This dance-pop track has a 90s fun vibe that instantly makes you want to sing along. The song speaks about the bittersweet feeling of watching others find love while longing for your own soulmate. It has a very catchy chorus:

To be the one
To turn me on (To turn me on)
That's what I need
Do you have someone for me?
Someone you know (Someone you know)
To take me home (To take me home)
That's what I need
Do you have someone for me?

Good as Gone

This disco track is about dealing with and accepting heartbreak, and moving on to become better. The song mixes emotional lyrics with a pulsing bassline and cappella sections.

Kiss Bang Bang

This song exudes a playful, cheeky vibe, reminiscent of Kylie’s earlier single Padam Padam.

Diamonds

This dance track is about enjoying the finer things in life. The pulsing bassline and shimmering production make it feel like a glittering celebration.

Hello

This upbeat track is energetic and infectious, keeping with the dance-floor-ready theme of the album.

Dance to the Music

A celebratory anthem, this song is all about letting go and losing yourself to the rhythm. It’s designed to keep the party going.

Shoulda Left Ya

This song is a reflective track. It’s about dealing with the aftermath of a breakup, filled with regret but empowered by the decision to move on.

Edge of Saturday Night (with The Blessed Madonna)

This track is about the feeling of anticipation and excitement as you edge toward a night out.

My Oh My (with Bebe Rexha & Tove Lo)

Kylie Minogue collaborates with Bebe Rexha & Tove Lo. The song explores the thrill and excitement of new love, with catchy hooks and energetic beats.

Midnight Ride (with Orville Peck & Diplo)

A unique blend of country-pop and electronic influences, this song is an adventurous and atmospheric track, perfect for late-night drives.

Dance Alone (with Sia)

Blending Sia’s songwriting talents with Kylie’s dance-pop energy, this track emerges as an empowering anthem about independence and self-love, creating a seamless fusion of both artists’ strengths.

Some of my favorite songs on the Tension II album are Taboo, Someone for Me, Diamonds, Good as Gone and Shoulda Left Ya. Most of my favorite songs on the album are very upbeat and catchy except Shoulda Left Ya, which is slow paced but absolutely beautiful.

Kylie is also set to embark on her Tension Tour 2025, starting in Australia and moving through Asia and Europe, with UK dates already confirmed. This tour will be her biggest in over a decade, and fans can expect an electrifying celebration of her new music and classic hits.
