Imported Wives, directed by Nigerian-Canadian filmmaker Pascal Atuma, is a Nigerian drama that looks at the emotional fallout of migration-driven marriages. Set between Nigeria and Canada, the film follows Ifeoma, a Nigerian doctor who agrees to marry Jordan, a calculating man seeking a shortcut to a better life abroad. As their new life in Canada unfolds, love gives way to manipulation, entitlement, and disillusionment. Through the lens of this fractured marriage, the film examines the “Japa” phenomenon and the silent battles faced by immigrant women.
