The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is officially underway, with a fresh lineup of nominees announced on March 23, 2025. As one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in African film and television, the AMVCA continues to spotlight outstanding talent and storytelling across the continent.

This year’s nominees reflect creativity, innovation, and cultural depth. Covering over 30 categories—from performance and directing to technical achievements and digital content—the 2025 AMVCA is set to be a celebration of the finest in African entertainment.

Top Nominated Films & Series

Leading the nominations this year is Seven Doors, produced by Femi Adebayo, which secured an impressive 11 nominations. The film is recognized in major categories such as Best Movie, Best Lead Actor for Femi Adebayo, and Best Lead Actress for Chioma Akpotha. It also earned nods for Best Art Direction and Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa), among others.

Close behind is Lisabi: The Uprising, directed by Adedimeji Lateef, which garnered 10 nominations. This historical drama is also competing for Best Movie, with Adedimeji Lateef receiving a nomination for Best Lead Actor. The film picked up additional nominations in categories such as Best Supporting Actor, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup, cementing its place as a critical and fan favorite.

Skeleton Coast, directed by Robert O. Peters, follows with eight strong nominations. The action-packed drama earned spots in top categories like Best Director, Best Lead Actress, and Best Movie. It also received recognition in technical areas including Best Editing and Best Cinematography, showcasing its well-rounded production quality.
