Highlights of Dajue Temple Three Peaks Trail Run
Historical Significance
The route follows ancient pilgrim trails dating back to the Qing Dynasty.
When you are on the trail, it is easy to feel like you are getting a glimpse into China’s cultural past.

Natural Beauty
We started with the hardest part, which is climbing up to Rose Peak. We also took a lunch break at a great spot just before the last climb.
Once we reached the top at 1,284 meters, it felt awesome. After that, though, we weren’t quite done. The descent was long, starting with trails and firebreaks, then a short stretch of paved road as we made our way down to Vulture Rock Ridge. It was tough but totally worth it.

One of the best parts of this trail run is enjoying the panoramic views of Beijing’s mountainous landscapes.

Dajue Temple
Established in 1068 A.D., this ancient Buddhist temple marks the finish line, allowing participants to explore its historic halls and serene courtyards.

Preparation Tips
Training
Due to the significant elevation gain and varied terrain, runners should prepare with hill workouts and technical trail practice.

Trail running shoes with good grip are essential. Consider carrying trekking poles for steep sections and sufficient hydration supplies.
Bring a packed lunch, 1-2 liters of water in a water bottle. You should also bring along sunscreen and a baseball cap since you would be outdoor for an extended period.
Acclimatization and Weather
If you’re not accustomed to Beijing’s climate, arrive a few days early to adjust, especially during hot summer months. The weather changes so bring clothes that allow you have layers in case it gets cold.
