Kikuo Tachibana, born into a yakuza family, loses his father in a violent conflict and is taken under the wing of a famed kabuki master. Alongside Shunsuke, the master’s biological son, Kikuo pours his life into the demanding world of kabuki theatre. Over decades, amidst glory, rivalry, betrayal, and sacrifice, he aspires to become a “living national treasure”, a revered figure in traditional Japanese art.
