The story follows Elizabeth Bennet, a woman who one can easily describe as rather spirited but very intelligent. We follow Elizabeth’s journey and quickly learn what her family and society during this period of time, expects from women, and how Elizabeth has chosen to deal their expectations. When she first meets Mr. Darcy, he really comes off as a bit of a brooding aristocrat and given Elizabeth’s personality, the two of them have initial misunderstandings and prejudices against each other. However, their relationship grows and soon we watch as an unexpected connection erupts.

This is definitely a movie about love! If you have read the book you know this already. The relationship between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy does take center stage. With that said, it is also a movie about social class and self-discovery. It looks at how perceptions and biases can shape relationships and the courage one might need to overcome societal constraints.
