Tailored Realities by Brandon Sanderson
Tailored Realities is a collection of short stories from one of our favorite authors of all time, Brandon Sanderson, who is well-known for his works including the Stormlight Archive, the Mistborn saga and much more.
This collection brings together ten standalone stories, many appearing in print for the first time. It also include the never-before-published novella Moment Zero. The stories range from futuristic detective tales, science fiction to superhero action, and imaginative fantasy. Each story showcases Sanderson’s range and storytelling precision and includes a postscript from Sanderson explaining the thought process behind the stories.
Tailored Realities gives readers a rare look into the creative experiments of one of the most celebrated writers. Sanderson himself describes the book as “Twenty-five years of Brandon Sanderson’s story fiction packed into one volume,” and it really felt like this.
The audiobook includes a full cast of narrators including a few of our favorite voices!

Contents
- Snapshot – We really liked this story as it reminded us of the banter and relationship between Runian and Ryan in The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England and also gave us a Black Mirror feel.
- Brian Dump – The idea behind this one is fantastic i.e. a couple shopping for the perfect brain for their baby that increases the potential for specific physical abilities i.e. a sports brain.
- I Hate Dragons
- Dreamer
- Perfect State
- Probability Approaching Zero
- Defending Elysium
- Firstborn – This story left us wanting more and was our favorite second only to Moment Zero. We badly need to know how the story between Varion Crestmar and Dennison plays out. It’s remarkably to read something so short and get engaged so quickly.
- Mitosis
- Moment Zero – This story kept us engaged. We were invested in both Detective Andrew Dane and Lisa Sterling’s journey. Generally, we are fans of timeline split stories (it’s why we love Avengers: Endgame), and we found Moment Zero to not be an exception and the idea behind the story to be brilliant.
