The Heir Apparent by Rebecca Armitage
The Heir Apparent is a story about duty, love, and the courage to choose your own future.
Lexi Villiers has built a life far from the British crown. Living in Australia, she’s currently pursuing her medical residency, sharing a peaceful farm life with her closest friends, and finally allowing herself to imagine a future shaped by love rather than obligation. Then, in an instant, everything changes.
After the sudden deaths of her father and her twin brother, Lexi learns that her grandmother, the Queen of England, has named her next in line for the throne. Forced to return to London as Princess Alexandrina, she is met with public skepticism, political tension, family secrets, and an uncle determined to take the crown for himself.
Given one year to decide her fate, Lexi must confront the pull of tradition, her loyalty to family, and the life she left behind. As love and responsibility collide, she faces an impossible question: will her destiny be defined by birthright or by her heart?

“The story is told from Lexi’s perspective and jumps between different timelines. When we first started reading the book, we just couldn’t help but make comparison between the royal family in the story and the House of Windsor but as the story progressed, it became much more interesting and we were completely invested in seeing how events would unfold.
In terms of characters, we liked Lexi as a main character but we also felt that the supporting characters including Amira, James, Jack, Finn, even Richard, all made their own impact!
Overall, The Heir Apparent is an enjoyable read and we definitely recommend it!”
