The Gods of the Game series by Ana Huang is a sports romance trilogy set in the world of English professional football. Each book follows a different soccer player and the woman who changes his life.

Although each book focuses on a different couple, the characters and relationships are connected. The books are best read in order.

Book 1: The Striker (2024)

The Striker introduces Asher Donovan, one of the best football players in the world. His talent is matched by his difficult reputation. After transferring to Blackcastle Football Club, Asher must learn to work with Vincent DuBois, his longtime rival and new teammate.

Their poor teamwork threatens the club’s season. To solve the problem, the team brings in Scarlett DuBois, a former professional ballerina who now works as a trainer. Scarlett is also Vincent’s sister—and therefore completely off-limits to Asher. As Scarlett and Asher spend more time together, the attraction between them becomes harder to ignore. A relationship could damage Asher’s place on the team and Scarlett’s relationship with her brother.

Brooklyn came to England hoping to rebuild her career and start over. Living with Vincent was never part of her plan. The two often get on each other’s nerves, but their disagreements slowly give way to trust and attraction. Their relationship could create problems for Vincent’s career and Brooklyn’s position with the team. It could also place them both in conflict with her father.

Book 3: The Keeper (2026)

The Keeper is the third and final book in the Gods of the Game series. It follows Noah Wilson, a famous goalkeeper and single father, and Carina Vu, the woman he hires to care for his daughter. Noah avoids relationships and wants to focus on football and his child. However, finding a dependable nanny has become difficult. With the World Cup approaching, he reluctantly hires Carina, even though the two do not get along.

Carina has spent years saving for a trip to Antarctica. When an emergency destroys her savings, she needs a new job quickly. Working for Noah gives her the opportunity to rebuild her finances, but it also places her close to a man she believes dislikes her. As Carina becomes an important part of Noah’s daughter’s life, Noah begins to question the rules he has created to protect his family and his heart.

Gods of the Game Film Adaptations

Amazon MGM Studios is developing the Gods of the Game series as a three-film adaptation. Each book is expected to receive its own film. Premeditated Productions and Audible are involved in the project. Ana Huang and producer Marshall Lewy will serve as executive producers. Casting and release dates have not yet been announced.

Is Gods of the Game Connected to Ana Huang’s Other Series?

The Gods of the Game, Kings of Sin, and Twisted books take place within the same wider fictional world. Characters and references may cross between the series, but each series follows different couples and has its own focus.

Readers do not need to read the Twisted or Kings of Sin books before beginning Gods of the Game. However, reading the other series may make some character appearances and connections more meaningful.
